I tried advance mame, but it wouldn't recognize my controllers and only wanted to use the keyboard to input commands/modify settings (I usually don't have my keyboard connected when gaming). Secondly, depending on the version of Mame youre using, you may need a samples file for all of the sound effects. If you dont know what romset your file comes from, its the wrong one. If you want to use Mame2003 you MUST use roms from the 0.78 romset. I've tried 20, but a handful of games seem to be missing or just not work correctly (Oddly, most are Sega games like Alien Storm, Golden Axe 2 works but there are no back grounds/scaling, Dynamite Dux, along with JJ Squawkers, and Bonk The Arcade Game, which I may just have missed) First of all, you 'downloaded a bunch of Galaga roms' is not a promising start. I tried many different versions of galaga but it either didn't load or it said I was missing files. Then I placed the zip in the mame4all folder. I searched 'MAME Galaba' and downloaded the zip file. I am curious as to what the best Mame is, I'm looking for the best compatibility, performance and largest library. , 20:37 I am a super beginner to retropie and I was trying to install galaga on it but it kept not working. I'm currently using a Raspberry Pi 4-4GB, with the official Raspberry AC Adapter, and the summer build of RetroPi. It only has vertical machines, suitable for a vertical monitor Arcade 1UP modded cabinet, such as Galaga/Galaxian or Pac-Man. So, what is the best Mame to use with a Pi 4 4GB. This is a different card from the regular 32GB Arcade 1UP microSD for the Raspberry Pi 3B/3B+ here.
